Gersh has been an excellent, high quality violin teacher and role model for our son. We feel like he strikes the perfect balance between strictness and levity. He is also patient and witty. We have seen a marked improvement in our son’s level of play since he has been working with Gersh.

My daughter has been learning with Gersh since September 2022 in a group setting. Gersh is a highly professional and extremely dedicated teacher. He has endless patience and does a fantastic job accommodating different types of learners, while laying a solid musical foundation. He is striving for excellence in a positive and encouraging manner, sets goals, and goes above and beyond to support his students to achieve those goals. Above all, he is a wonderful person, easy to communicate with – highly recommended!!

My children Caleb is 9, twins Ruth and Ronen are 7. We have been taking lessons with Gersh since March 2022, 9 months. They had never played before and now on the beginner level, have a great foundation. They look forward to lessons, understand the instructions, and practice every day.Gersh is very clear, he gives helpful suggestions for practice. They enjoy making progress and the sense of accomplishment of learning new things and “passing” songs once they master them. Gersh is a very strong musician himself, is able to bring that love of music and help them understand the foundation they need to become good pianists themselves. He makes clear timeline expectations. He gives advance notice on schedule changes, offers make up opportunities for missed/rescheduled lessons. He is flexible with repertoire – especially with three children all taking lessons at the same time. He’s done a good job of giving them each their own path and songs. My children absolutely grow as musicians with Gersh’s instruction. They went from never having played to playing Level 1 melodies. They loved the recital. Gersh gave them great advice on everything from how to bow to the actual songs played. They practiced hard, and we were all very proud. Looking forward to the next one!

My daughter is 9 years -old and she has been taking lessons for just under a year. My daughter was a complete beginner when we started and she is confidently playing songs by memory and has started to read music. Gersh is patient and engaging. He has high standards but keeps his time with my daughter light and fun. Gersh is communicative with me and helps to make sure I know how to best support my daughter even though I have no musical training. Even though my daughter has started taking violin lessons at school, she asked to continue taking lessons with Gersh. She feels like his style of instruction and one on one attention is more fun and she is learning more. Another perk of lessons with Gersh is the opportunity to see him perform. It is really exciting to be invited to his concerts. Gersh is respectful of our time and keeps in communication if there are any changes to the schedule. I have been so happy to see her grow as a musician and as a young, confident person under Gersh’s instruction. Gersh was wonderful with preparing my daughter for her spring performance. Unlike some other teachers, Gersh was there to help my daughter tune her violin before she took the stage and make sure that she put her nerves aside and did her best. He was effusive with praise when she was done and she felt great!

We all have one teacher in our lives that we never forget. Gersh is this rare find of a violin teacher. Professional, kind and engaging, he is liked by students and parents alike. His detailed, in-depth approach to violin playing technique and focus on the quality of sound set him apart from others. Gersh’ patience, understanding of a child's psychological makeup and ability to communicate with his students create not only an exceptional learning environment, but actually generate a space for the student's personal and artistic growth as a musician. His passion for teaching the classical repertoire as well as the beauty and versatility of the violin is contagious! Yet he has a unique ability to be flexible in his choice of the repertoire without compromising the quality of the instruction and the educational tasks that he sets for his lessons. Lucky is the student who has him for a teacher!
